Scope
Throughout tackling this project I knew that I really needed to buckle down in class and pay close attention to the instructions that were given. Making sure I knew how to transfer one image onto another, making sure that the image is a smart image, or how to cut the image apart. I found my self having to run from class to the library so that I do not lose any information from the lecture. I think that the over all scope of this project was a challenge but beneficial to learning about the Photoshop software.
Meme Explained
The two men in front Billy McFarland (right) and Ja Rule (left), who produced and promoted a "luxury music festival" entitled Fyre Festival in order to promote their new app Fyre. During the Fyre Festival's opening weekend, the event experienced problems related to security, food, accommodations, medical services and artist relations, resulting in the festival being postponed indefinitely. Instead of the luxury villas and gourmet meals for which festival attendees paid thousands of dollars, they received prepackaged sandwiches and FEMA tents as their accommodations. After being on the remote island in the Bahamas, the two returned back to America where they found the F.B.I knocking on their door. Throughout the entire duration of the event the two were blinded from the reality of how much they were able to do.
Production
The first thing I did for my meme assignment was thinking of a meme to do. At this time in my life I had recently watched to movie about the Fyre Festival on Netflix and just thought how these guys are just total memes in themselves. They can’t see the reality that is presented to them and often times people don’t want to face the reality that is presented to them. So I wanted to create a meme the resembled that. I began to find pictures of Ja Rule, Billy McFarland, F.B.I agents, and the setting of the festival. I saved all of these photos to my USB drive and labeled the documents accordingly. Next, I opened them in different tabs and started using the quick selection tool to cut the picture to just what I needed. After, I clicked the mask button to erase all the material that was not being used. Then I made each image the correct size that I needed, made each image a smart image, then dragged each image into my background image. Next, I made sure they were in the correct place and look to be all the same hue and saturation. Finally, I uploaded a picture of me acting as though I was leaning on the tent while holding a help me sign because many people that attended the event found it very hard to go home. When all was finished, I exported it as a JPG and uploaded it to blogger.
Videos
While working on this project I found that some of the videos that were given were helpful to this process. The video on how to use Photoshop Type Tool helped when trying to put the words onto the image. Another video that helped me was the Scaling, Skewing, and Rotating with Free Transform video. With this video I learned how to drag the image around, how to adjust the Opacity, as well as rotating and resizing an image. In addition, I used the video about Using Masks with Adjustment Layers. This video helped me cut what I didn't need out of my image and left only what I needed.
